school work

All these great pictures were done at school in ITS class. I think they actually might have belonged to a Fireworks Tutorial, however we were not told where the resource pictures, words, etc came from so I cant say that much more. The very bottom picture is the one that we did in class, the rest were ones that I did - flying solo as they say - to prove I had picked up the skill. Easy peasy mate.

I hope you liked the pics...

php

As a result of injury my leg I was in a way forced to stay home. Spending long hours at home doing nothing does get boring, though I doubt many teenagers would admit it.
Never the less I decided to do something useful with my suddenly free time. Having several php, apache, etc type books at home I scrounged around and found one of the books.
After probably half an hour reading and another half hour following each of the tutorial steps I was aghast to discover that I needed PHP installed upon MY computer to view the final product...
My only problem is that all the tutorials that I follow to install php ends up with total disastor. They all fail at the same point of changing some document, which at the current moment I cannot remember the name of, but all the same it is important.
So until i have figured out how to install php onto my computer i am unable to do any further out of my tutorial books that involve php, etc.

School

Because, as I have already mentioned, I do IT through school and I thought that I would add what I do in class as well in my blogs, as eventually they all add up to stuff I have done...
We were given an exercise to make an effective looking page for the school. Its a simple thing that I created, as i already had the text that needed to be added and only had to find images and place them inot one file...
And voila! This is the finished product!

Tutorial

I did this tutorial...
This is just a picture that I exported to show you what I ended up creating. It is of course missing all the html parts, etc.
It was actually pretty good. It gave me heaps of inspiration... See, I used to have a theory that I found hard to prove different that it was incredibly hard to create an effective looking picture, etc, for the internet (or anything else for that matter)...
That is what I ended up creating through the tutorial.
The steps were very simple to follow: quite easy to read, to understand, etc. Plus after every few steps, if I remember correctly and am not thinking of another tutorial, there was a sort of help section where if you got stuck another was around fixing your problem is provided.
I would recommend this tutorial for anyone wishing to try doing something simple but cool through Macromedia Fireworks.
The link to this tutorial is:
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/fireworks/articles/layout_editing.html

Overall, the tutorial has given me some ideas for my website... Just by creating simple filters, etc and placing them over lapping and so forth a cool looking background/foreground can be created.
When I get better at doing coding, such as php, I might create my home page with something like this as it would provide a great area for user log in / sign up area, news and current features, etc.

Well thats all for now...

about me - blog # 1

Hey all,
this is my first post in this cool blog. Do you just not love the colours and everything... Pity it doesnt have as much styles as msn does...

KK,
a little about myself:

Name: Kathleen Skinner
Age: 15. (07/07/1990 = my birthday)
Occupation: High School Student (Year 11), attending TAFE part time (this is for a tafe course....) :)
Background: I have already done the previous Web Intensive Course here at TAFE, plus I have been doing IT through school now for 2 years excluding this year as it has only just started.... At school it has not been so much work as it is all very slow passed and small things like how to just add a filter to a picture in Macromedia Fireworks.
Programs I'm Familiar With: Macromedia fireworks, flash, dreamweaver; SWiSH; and yeah, I'm sure there are a few more programs but they are either irrelevant at the moment or I just can't remember...
What I Hope To Achieve: I'm hoping to achieve the ability to create an effective, good looking (beautiful or handsome-you can pick... :)) easy user usage (if that makes sense...) and easy to edit, etc. With these skills I hope to apply them to my current websites: TemplatesVille, Sitesdeluxe and my favourite and most worked on - Ympie Stumble.

BTW, did I forget to mention that I absolutely love my website Ympie Stumble. It is the greatest hobby, sitting at my computer late at night doing nothing that interesting as some people my age would say but still somehow creating something from scratch until you can create no more. It is like being God... in a way...

Well all,
I suppose that will be all for my very first blog. I dont want to put to much stuff for you to read in the very first blog, that will bore you...

:)'

HEHEHE.
Kathleen.
