stick man dedication

I also went back to the flash text book we are using tonight and looked up a way to do animation quicker than frame by frame. Its all fine and dandy knowing how to do frame by frame, but it takes ages! Let me stress that point for you.
This is how long it took me to create my Stick Man Movie (roughly):

Roughly it took about 30 mins to design the character.
There were about 400 frames and it took roughly mins per frame to edit. That makes 830 minutes.
We then add all the text on at the end, which took about 1 hour to create and insert. 930 minutes.
Then creating all the buttons and actionscripting - about another 2 hrs and 30 mins. That equals 1200 mins.
finally add the preloader to that, which was about another hour, which makes it about 13oo mins.
Add an extra hour for all the little stuff ups that happened along the way - 1400 mins.
Now there is 60 mins in an hour, so that means 1400 / 60 equals about 23.3333333333333 hours. Lets just make that somewhere around 23 or 24 hours of work. Nearly a days worth of work.
Considering all the school stuff and only being able to work about 15 mins each night on it. That makes about 93.33333333 or roughly 93 or 94 days. There for, rounding that up, to make my stick man movie it took me about 94 or so days to make.

See how dedicated I was at my making my stick man movie lol. but I'm proud of it, so it doesnt matter! :)

tafe

I've updated my client website. It now has a introduction text thing, and a small amount of information on the home page. I had some fun as for a few minutes i was afraid that using the loader componet didnt work when you uploaded it, but I figured out how to fix it lol.
I also updated my marketing website. Since my memory stick was whiped i was lucky to still have the files, even if I had to REINSTALL all the server details in to Dreamweaver. Oh, well.... sigh.....

today

We spent all night doing work on our client websites. As my memory stick was reformatted the very day that I was going to go make a back up of it.... grr so so angry about that.... I personally had to start the client website all again!
However since then I have done some tutorials that helped me with some ideas in making it look cooler, still maintaining its old design theory. I have also decided that since I have been learning how to add components to websites at school that i would not only refresh on this for the upcoming exam where we have to create a website, but use components as it makes it so much easier to edit each page.

Stick Man

Officially named "To Push On", yet commonly called Stick Man The Movie by myself.
It was posted on www.newgrounds.com, a great website containing lots of flash movies for those who dont know about it, and I sat there for about half an hour watching each minute go bye, each review roll in...
The average movie, as I have noticed, gets around 0.2 - 0.3 out of 5. My movie got 0.79, almost two or three times higher than the average movie. I was really happy, especially since it was only about 20 or 30 seconds long.
I also got really good reviews. They all said things along the lines of it was really good, you have great talent, keep it up. Out of ten my reviews got between 4 and 6.

Overall, my Stick Man movie was a real success, at least in my eyes. Roughly a month of work paid off.
Now I plan to make something far more complicated, but that will take some time. :)
Until then it will be posted at www.ympiestumble.com, my website. Be aware however that the website is constantly going under development according to the skills I get. If you cant find the link, try again another day, and if you still cant find it, then send an email my way.

Love ya all

Stick Man update

A quick update for the Stick Man Movie:

Stick Man now crawls!!!

This has taken about an extra week between juggling work/school/tafe/personal time, extending the total creating time for Stick Man Movie to 2 and 1/2 weeks.

But dont worry, Stick Man WILL be completed.

tonights lesson

Well as the title suggests i am going to talk about tonight's lesson.
As a class as a whole we created a flash banner and then inserted it into Dreamweaver and uploaded it. Yay! It looked really cool, and it was really easy to create. Lol!
Because of my free time during all this, as I somehow seem to be a fast worker, I looked up www.kirupa.com , which has several good tutorials for different versions of flash, etc. I did the tutorial Digital Clocks, which actually turned out quite nifty. The tutorial involved a lot of action scripting which not only made the numbers appear, but an AM/PM to appear and to appear in 12 hour time and not army time (24 hours) because that sort of clashed with the AM/PM thing.
I am thinking that I might use it in my client websites (both for TAFE and school).
